Pathology
The Department of Pathology examines and determines the cause of illness or death of practically the entire spectrum of domestic, farm, hobby, exotic or wild animals, including birds, fish and invertebrates, both for of the state veterinary supervision, as well as for private breeders.
It forms the initial diagnostic stage before further follow-up examinations, e.g. bacteriological, virological, toxicological, etc. It also performs direct identification of the causative agent of the disease using immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry techniques. Especially for the needs of small animal clinical practice, it provides histopathological and cytological intravital diagnosis of taken biopsies, punctures, etc.
The results of accredited tests can also serve as a basis for solving insurance claims or court proceedings.
