The Jihlava State Veterinary Institute (abbreviation SVI, TAX ID 13691554) is a contributory organization established by the Ministry of Agriculture pursuant to §44 of Act No. 166/1999 Coll. of July 13, 1999, on veterinary care and on the amendment of some related laws (veterinary law), for the purpose of securing veterinary laboratory diagnostics.


The statutory representative is MVDr. Pavel Bartak, Ph.D., director of SVI Jihlava.
The object of the institute's activity is, according to the founding document (in the complete and amended version as of January 1, 2001, reference no. 20813/2001-3030 of May 24, 2001, in wording of amendment No. 1, reference no. 40434/2017-MZE-13222 dated December 4, 2017 and No. 2, reference no. MZE-57000/2021-18122 dated November 22, 2021):
The Institute is integrated into the organizational structure of the State Veterinary Administration.

MAIN ACTIVITY:
- laboratory diagnosis of infections and other animal diseases and causes of animal deaths;
- laboratory and sensory testing of samples of biological material, raw materials, food, feed, water, environment, medicines, hygiene needs and possibly other samples in order to assess their safety and quality;
- laboratory control of animal breeding;
- detection of undesirable residues in the human food chain and in the environment;
- performance of activities of accredited testing laboratory and accredited certification body for products within the scope of valid accreditation;
- sampling for laboratory and sensory analysis and their transport to the laboratory;
- performance of national reference laboratories and reference laboratories;
- consulting, educational and training activities in the field of agriculture and food industry within the scope of its activities.

The Institute is integrated into the organizational structure of the State Veterinary Administration.
