The Department of Food Hygiene at The State Veterinary Institute in Jihlava, which includes a Diagnostic Laboratory approved by the Czech Accreditation Institute o.p.s., carries out examinations of all food products for the evaluation of potential health risks. Examinations are performed according to the requirements of state legislation on domestic and imported food products.
Testing on food products for export is performed according to customer requirements.
1) Microbiological examination
- all food products of plant and animal origin are examined according to Act No. 110/97 Coll. and related regulations as amended - bacteriological examination of drinking water is performed according to regulation No.376/00 Coll.and EU directives - food products and other products of animal origin according to the Veterinary Act,No. 166/99 Coll. and related regulations - non-standard examinations of food products according to manufacturer requirements
2) Microbial toxicology
determination of toxins of microbial origin in isolated strains (production ability) and determination of toxin content in food products
- Clostridium perfringens - enterotoxin - by RPLA test - Bacillus cereus - enterotoxin - by RPLA test, by TECRA test, - thermostable toxin - on tissue cultures - Staphylococcus aureus - determination of enterotoxin by RPLA test
3) Mycological examination
- determination of the intensity of contamination by fungi and identification of the fungal strain - determination of the number of fungal spores - determination of the number of yeasts - in connection with the intensity of fungal contamination, the Department of Chemistry performs a quantitative determination of aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1,G2,M, ochratoxin A, Fusarium toxins (deoxinivalenol, zearalenon)
4) Product falsification
- confirmation of bovine-, porcine-, ovine-, avine-, equine- and macropine-specific proteins - ELISA and PCR - confirmation of specific proteins in game PCR - control of the composition of dairy products, according to the type of milk - ELISA - determination of soya content in food products - determination of gluten content in food products - determination of the presence of maize in food products - confirmation of the use of vegetable protein in meat products
5) determination of aw
- measurement using instrument - aw sprint Novasina
6) Technological microbiology
- determination of proteolytic bacteria - determination of lipolytic bacteria - typing bacteria - verification of starting cultures - determination of thermostable and thermophilic bacteria - determination of halophilic bacteria - determination of gas composition in inert atmosphere used - detection of alergens in soya, eggs, milk, peas and hazelnuts, etc.
7) Determination of GMO
- - GMO determination - qualitative and quantitative - according to legislation
8) The National Reference Laboratory for Salt Water Fish, Salt Water Animals and Products Made from Them
