    The Department of Bacteriology performs:
    • isolation and identification of bacterial pathogens in clinical and section material and the external environment
    • determination of sensitivity to antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents
    • selection of strains for the preparation of autovaccines
    • examination of milk to identify pathogens causing mastitis
    • bacteriological and mycological examination of sperm samples and cervical smears.
    • tests on anthrax in clinical materials, skin, wool, horse hair and other materials.
    OVERVIEW OF EXAMINATIONS OF BACTERIAL DISEASES ACCORDING TO ANIMAL BREED

    Cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats, wild animals, farm-raised game, laboratory animals, rabbits, fur animals, dogs, cats, zoo animals:

    brucellosis, Salmonella infections, listeriosis, Clostridium infections, anthrax, Coli infections including typing, streptococcal and staphylococcal infections.

    CATTLE

    - examination of irrigations on Campylobacter and Trichomonas


    PIGS

    - swine erysipelas
    - infectious porcine pleuropneumonia
    - atrophic rhinitis - examination of nasal smears including determination of necrotoxins   using the ELISA method for P. multocida strains
    - brachyspira - by cultivation (swine dysentery)


    HORSES

    - contagious metritis in mares


    POULTRY

    - Salmonella infection, listeriosis, Clostridium infections,
      cholera of poultry, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, E.coli, botulism


    BEES

    - larval infections and fungal diseases (mineralization and
      calcification), detection of Paenibacillus larvae in honey


    WILD ANIMALS AND FARM-RAISED GAME

    - brucellosis and tularemia of hares
    - pullorum disease and Salmonella infection in pheasants
